  EROSION MATS: degradable and permanent

Degradable Erosion Mats are very flexible erosion control blankets to keep soil and seeds stable until vegetation thrives. The woven fibers break down by photodegradation until they become part of the soil. These products absorb water easily to withstand heavy rain and stressful conditions.

Available in extra wide 12.5 foot rolls.
Ideal for environmentally sensitive bioengineering applications.
Allows uninhibited growth of other plant species.
Cost-effective alternative to textiles constructed from exotic fibers.
Less expensive and easier to handle, store, and install than traditional blankets.
USES:   Consider Degradable Erosion Blankets for:
    steep slopes
    low flow channels
    as a flexible bioengineering textile
    an anchor for straw/hay mulches
    closure systems
    sod reinforcement underlay

Permanent Erosion Mats
(Turf Reinforcement Mats or Reinforcement Matrixes) are comprised of a three-dimensional matrix to ensure their strength. Available in standard widths of 6.5' and 13' and offering a diverse range of applications that can be specifically tailored to the needs of your project.
Unaffected by chemicals normally found in soils.
    High tensile strength.
Contain UV stabilizers to aid in long-term performance and resistance to biodegradation.
    High interface shearing resistance.
USES:   roadside ditch, stormwater channeling
    detention and retention basins
banks and shorelines, dams, dikes, levees
    landfill slopes and diversion ditches
    geosynthetic reinforced soil structures
    wrapped face slopes, steep slopes
    inland waterways

Bank Protection: Clean water lagoons and stormwater detention basins often exhibig fluctuating water levels. As the elevation rises and falls, reinforced vegetation will resist hydraulic forces during drawdown. The use of turf reinforcement mats provide permanent soil stabilization and root reinforcement to resist erosion and enhance water quality.

Slope Protection: When unprotected, even "stable" slopes are subject to erosion from raindrop impact and runoff. The use of turf reinforcement mats on challenging slopes provide short-term protection and long-term reinforcement of the vegetation. In areas exceeding the performance limits of temporary degradable products (such as open weave geotextiles and erosion blankets) a turf reinforcement mat is an economical alternative to the placement of rock riprap or concrete slope paving.

Channel Lining: In open channels and drainage ditches where high water velocities or shear forces are expected, turf reinforcement mats and native vegetation create environmentally superior lining systems. The result is a more aesthetically pleasing, cost effective, flexible design which controls erosion, captures sediment, filters contaminants, increases infiltration, recharges groundwater, decreases runoff, and improves wildlife habitat.
DESIGN NOTES:

Numerous conditions, such as:

soil type
climate
site geometry
argonomic factors
hydraulic conditions

all play a role in the proper selection of erosion control products. The most accurate determination of suitability is accomplished through design. The maximum permissiable design vallues for each product must be compared to the actual project parameters as the final step for stability and suitability.
